In its continuing efforts to provide just-in-time workforce education, customized training and related services to Peninsula businesses and residents, Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development has established training facilities at the Discovery Center in Williamsburg. The center is located in Williamsburg’s New Town area, a 365-acre mixed use community.
This collaborative effort between Thomas Nelson Community College, the College of William and Mary, and James City County will enable first class training and economic and workforce development coordinated services to be provided to public and private organizations. The center will serve as an engine for starting, growing, and attracting technology-related businesses essential to the success of Greater Williamsburg.
TNCC will offer education and training programs for the business community, current company employees, entrepreneurs, transitional and dislocated workers needing to advance workplace skills. Seminars and workshops will also be offered at this location.
TNCC’s space on the ground floor of the Discovery II building, approximately 2,000 square feet, includes two Smart/Wireless classrooms and a Business Development and Corporate Training office for the Upper Peninsula.
Michelle Manfred will serve as Director of Corporate Training Programs and Charles Falls will serve as Contract Credit Coordinator. They will work closely with other Discovery II occupants James City County’s Office of Economic and Community Development and The College of William and Mary in business recruitment and expansion projects.
